about

An Emu Parade is a (perhaps arcane term for the) process of methodically picking up items – such as rubbish from a school playground or toys from a bedroom floor – in order to make a place neater or tidier. Emu Parade is also the name of the street in Jacana, Victoria which runs alongside one boundary of the Northern School for Autism in that suburb.

This compilation is a selection of music donated by artists from around the world (but mainly from Melbourne, Australia) with a dual purpose: 50% of profits will assist Stewart Anderson and Jennifer Turrell train and maintain an autism service dog for their 5-year-old daughter Tallulah. 50% will go to Autism Awareness Australia.

Stew and Jen live in Flagstaff, AZ. They are both musicians and have also owned and operated independent record labels – including 555, Red Square and Milk and Alcohol – since last century. In 2001-2 they lived in Melbourne and participated and assisted in musical forays in that very musical city and many of the contributors to this compilation have donated/lent music in recognition of this fact.

This compilation comes in two formats: an online version available between 1 June 2012 and 30 May 2013, and a briefer CD in a limited quantity. The criteria for invitation to become involved in the compilation was greatness. The criteria for inclusion on the CD was, primarily, that the recording be unavailable in any other tangible format. The online compilation costs whatever you are ready or able to pay for it.

Stewart Anderson has also produced a CD entitled The Indefatigable Stewart Anderson, which demonstrates (via 32 tracks, all by different bands, all featuring Stewart Anderson in some capacity) how indefatigable he actually is. The equally indefatigable Jen is on it too.
